In the move Dance of The Dead(2008) the grave digger did not do such. The grave digger had prior knowledge of this potential zombie invasion but keeps it to him self in-order to save his job.Although not knowing what exactly caused it until later in the film he knew that people would not want him working there if they got word of what he believed that he saw. Would it be considered egoism if one was to hide something of such magnitude in order to prevent him from loosing his job the one thing that allows him to provide for his family?

Now look at it from the perspective of the towns people what if he would have spoken up. Would the lives of Mitch,Kyle,Gwen,Stephan, and all of the other towns people that were killed and turned into zombies have been spared.Maybe not, but it would have given them a chance to at least try. What if they had known about the leak from the plant that was causing the dead to become zombies maybe they had an even better advantage. A great advantage knowing that they could stop the dead from rising by stopping the leak. But without any knowledge of such activity they had nothing to worry about. "the person has self-interested motives and ignores the legitimate needs of others"(Salazar 1392) If the grave digger would have hid this secret for any other reason than to save his job than is may be considered self less but because he knew that if he said anything his job would be gone he let the town free to discover the misfortune that was caused by the leaking power plant. When this misfortune was discovered it was already to late. He chanced loosing his life for his job.
If you were in this situation what would you do ? Do you think what the grave digger did was an act of egoism or was he just trying to protect the family that he loves?
